British Esports is looking for freelance observers who can work within a team to observe the main titles in the British Esports Student Champs 2022/23:
- Overwatch 2
- League of Legends
- VALORANT

Please note: We can only appoint applicants who are not currently playing for a team in the British Esports Student Champs. Casters from 2021-22 Champs year will also be required to reapply for 2022-23, so the application process is fair and open to all. This is a freelance paid role.
Pay: £12.50 per hour.
Length: Fixed term, September 2022-June 2023 (with breaks for school/college holidays)
Hours: Approx 2 hrs per week each Wednesday
Applications close Wednesday 31st August 2022.
Responsibilities:
- Observing and producing a clean feed to the British Esports production team.
- Capture the action of the British Esports matches on-the-fly, identifying key plays, making sure the camera is highlighting the most interesting aspects of the match, and highlighting replays for highlight reels.
- Stay in sync with the evolving game; constantly brainloading the newest patch info, updates and changes that’ll inform how you identify the hottest in-game action.
Requirements:
- Specialist understanding and in-depth knowledge of your specific title.
- Be easily contactable and available to observe matches throughout the academic year (October-December 2022, and January-July 2023). Matches typically start by default at 4pm each Wednesday, however we would need observers ready approx 30mins earlier for set up.
- Have a decent PC set up to enable streams to run smoothly
- Reliable internet connection
- Work closely with the casters, producer and other members of staff to ensure matches run smoothly, while communicating any potential issues or problems.
- Work well in a team – be able to follow instructions from the stream producer
Additional Information:
This is a freelance paid role. This role is one of several freelance and volunteer positions British Esports is looking to fill around its 2022-23 British Esports Student Champs for schools and colleges.
An enhanced DBS check and safeguarding is required for this role, and will be provided by British Esports.

Download a game recording software, and record any game using the in-game spectator client with yourself operating and working the camera. Please upload this to Twitch or Youtube and submit the link along with your application.
