Key UK esports figures in attendance

Members of the UK esports industry gathered at the Palace of Westminster earlier this week to take part in a roundtable discussion on esports.

It was the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) meeting for video games and esports, organised by UK games industry trade body Ukie.

British Esports Association vice chair, Rt Hon Ed Vaizey MP, chaired the roundtable. Several British Esports advisory board members were in attendance, including Dignitas general manager Michael “ODEE” O’Dell, NUEL founder Josh Williams and Edge Esports’ David Yarnton.

Other key figures included ESL UK COO Rob Black, Intel UK gaming and esports lead Scott Gillingham, Ukie CEO Dr Jo Twist OBE, Niccolo Maisto from FACEIT, NSE executive director Jon Tilbury.

MPs Alex Sobel, Scott Mann and Matt Western also attended.

ESL UK COO Rob Black said on Twitter: “We had a great discussion with the APPG for video games and esports on what government can do to push the industry. The UK government are slowly waking up to the potential of esports.”

Last October, the industry gathered at the first esports APPG event in Parliament.
