Team Great Britain Reach Finals of December’s Global Esports Games 2022

British Esports’ Team Great Britain to play at the Global Esports Games Finals in Istanbul in DOTA 2 Women, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, and eFootball2023.

Sunderland, UK, 15th November, 2022 – British Esports, the national body set up to support grassroots esports in the UK, is delighted to announce that Team Great Britain have reached the finals of the Global Esports Games, scheduled to take place on 15th – 17th December in Istanbul, Turkey.

Competing in DOTA 2 Women and Open categories, eFootball™ 2023, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition and Player Unknown Battlegrounds Mobile, Team Great Britain have secured their slot in the finals of the DOTA 2 Women category, along with Street Fighter V Champion Edition, and eFootball™ 2023, having a total of seven athletes competing for medal glory.

The Global Esports Games, now in its second year, is the flagship competitive esports event from the Global Esports Federation – contested by athletes from Member Federations around the world.  

“Congratulations to all our teams competing at the Global Esports Games this year.” said Mark Weller, Team Manager, Great Britain. “With three teams heading to Istanbul, and a number of talents discovered during our Commonwealth Games run, I’m hopeful we can improve on our Silver medal from Singapore 2021 and continue to build a legacy for future generations to aspire to.”

British Esports are proud to support Team Great Britain at the Global Esports Games as the Member Federation.  Furthermore, British Esports are delighted to announce the addition of Josh ‘Bryn’ Norris as Assistant Manager to Team Great Britain.
