Why British Esports?

Expertise. Credibility. Validity.

The British Esports Federation, established in 2016, is the world-leading national federation dedicated to empowering education and industry through the power of esports. We work to promote, improve and inspire the growth of esports through innovative programmes, educational initiatives and strategic partnerships.

We created the world’s first esports qualifications of their kind – now studied by over 20,000 students across 200+ facilities – and one of the UK’s largest school, college and university esports tournaments.

British Esports also operates the National Esports Performance Campus, providing a space to foster esports excellence, helps select talent to represent Great Britain in international competition, runs other tournaments like the International Defence Esports Games with the Ministry of Defence, and has a focus on safeguarding, inclusion and talent development.

Whether you’re at concept stage, newly launched or already active, we’ll help you build momentum and deliver real impact with our custom turnkey solutions.

Success stories

“British Esports guided us from idea to operation with clarity and care, saving us time, money and providing operational efficiencies across multiple service and delivery departments. We launched on time, on budget, and with buy-in across the organisation and from a wider range of local stakeholders and national employers.

Esports has completely transformed opportunities for young people in ‘the’ most deprived town in the UK, on a campus which services students from over 100 nationalities.

Through working with British Esports our students and local community now have access to a wide range of local, national and international opportunities with key esports industry bodies and partners. Through British Esports’ support with funding applications, our students have now had the chance to travel abroad to gain once-in-a-lifetime experiences in other countries such as South Korea.”

British Esports supports Sunderland City Council to develop 37 Digital Health Hubs

Through working with the local council and developing a ‘Hub and Spoke’ model linked to the National Esports Performance Campus, the funded programme uses gaming and esports to upskill volunteers, provide digital skills training and increase engagement across youth services.

This has successfully bridged the digital divide, developed digital inclusion and promoted social mobility through careers engagement, advice and signposting to British Esports programmes delivered from the National Esports Performance Campus in partnership with Sunderland College, the Foundation of Light, Northumbria Police, the University of Sunderland and a variety of youth services.

We provided support from feasibility to launch, helping to increase student numbers and all with a sustainable two-year budget.
Students at Oldham College now receive education and training in esports through City in the Community, Manchester City’s charity arm, while gaining industry insight and experience in the esports world, competing in British Esports competitions and even travelling to South Korea and engaging with top team organisation Gen.G.

Youth engagement

The project involved collaboration between Sunderland City Council and Boldyn Networks, working with 37 trusted community partners to provide doorstep digital services.

Utilising a wider ‘Hub and Spoke’ model linked to the National Esports Performance Campus, the funded pilot used gaming to successfully bridge the digital divide and engage young people aged 12 to 18. It resulted in exceeding weekly engagement targets in youth facilities.
