Growing support for the development of esports and gaming in Ireland, from amateur grassroots tournaments to the professional careers.
Global Competition. Medal Recognition.
Esports Northern Ireland were founded in 2021 to compete at the pilot Commonwealth Esports Championships in Birmingham alongside the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Competing against 28 nations from across the 72 members of the Commonwealth, Esports Northern Ireland secured their first ever gold medal, with transgender esports athlete Emma “Emzi”Rose coming out victorious in eFootball Womens.
In 2023, Esports Northern Ireland joined forces with Ireland Esports as part of a strategic alignment, which will see both organisations collaborating on shared resources, education and domestic tournament initiatives.

Empowering Irish Esports: Local Talent Development.
Emma “Emzi” Rose, hailing from Coleraine in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland and currently residing in Belfast, emerged victorious with a gold medal in eFootball at the Commonwealth Esports Championships.
Her triumphs didn’t cease there as she went onto claim the Cinematic Champion title at the inaugural ESI Film Festival in London 2023. Her remarkable documentary titled “It’s for Everyone” captured hearts and minds, highlighting her experience of being a transgender woman in the gaming and esports space, and some of the challenges that she has had to face.
Continuing her stride, Emma has since gone onto represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the European Games Esports Championships in 2023, achieving yet another milestone by securing a silver medal in eFootball Women.
Throughout her journey, Emma’s achievements have been a testament to her dedication and skill, marking her as an influential figure in the world of competitive gaming.

Esports Northern Ireland competed at the Commonwealth Esports Championships 2022 in Birmingham, and significantly raised the profile of competitive gaming throughout Northern Ireland.

Commonwealth Esports Gold Medalists.
The defining moment for Esports Northern Ireland came when Emma ‘Emzii’ Rose not only made a name for herself at the 2022 Commonwealth Esports Championships by winning the women’s eFootball competition, she also helped cement Northern Ireland in esports history by securing their first gold medal in esports.
Emzii has also gone onto secure a silver medal in eFootball Women at the 2023 European Games Esports Championships, proudly representing Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
