British Esports is looking for a freelance host who can deliver, and work as part of a team, to be the face of the British Esports Student Champs broadcasts. 

We are looking for someone who is relatively knowledgeable in at least two of our Champs titles:

  • League of Legends
  • Overwatch 2
  • Rocket League
  • VALORANT
    (other titles and general esports knowledge is desirable too).

Please note: We can only appoint applicants who are not currently playing for a team in the British Esports Student Champs. This is a freelance paid role.

Pay: £12.50 per hour

Length: Fixed term, September 2022-June 2023 (with breaks for school/college holidays)

Hours: Approx 2 hrs per week each Wednesday

Responsibilities:

  • Host broadcasts for the British Esports twitch channel.
  • Work with casters, producers and British Esports staff to ensure the broadcasts run smoothly.
  • Follow the progress of the British Student Esports Champs and the teams within it
  • You may also be required to analyse and discuss gameplay with casters and conduct post-match interviews.
  • Follow instructions from the producer and communicate with guests on the stream.

Requirements:

  • A decent understanding of the games we run in the British Esports Student Champs (League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League and Valorant)
  • Good hosting skills – a warm/friendly personality and ability to hold the viewers’ attention, ask insightful questions to casters and create an entertaining performance for the audience.
  • Be easily contactable and available to host a broadcast once every few weeks (we run a rotation, e.g. Overwatch broadcast one week, a League of Legends broadcast and continue to alternate). Match days are typically Wednesdays, 4pm to 6pm
  • Have a decent PC/laptop and recording set up to enable streams to run smoothly, as well as a decent quality camera/microphone/headset/audio peripherals.
  • Work well in a team and with our producer(s) and staff – be able to communicate effectively and professionally on-stream and off-stream 
  • Past hosting experience is a bonus, but not required

Additional Information:

This is a freelance paid role. This role is one of several freelance and volunteer positions British Esports is looking to fill around its 2022-23 British Esports Student Champs for schools and colleges.

An enhanced DBS check and safeguarding is required for this role, and will be provided by British Esports.
