Dundee and Angus College student wins back-to-back British Esports Student Champs EAFC Cups

A student has become a back-to-back esports champion after winning the 2026 British Esports Student Champs EAFC Spring Cup.

Tony from Dundee and Angus College won the EAFC Spring Cup after finishing first out of 24 players, beating a player from New College Durham in the final.

This comes after he won the EAFC Winter Cup, taking the top spot out of 78 players after beating a player from Stafford Dragons.

The Cups are special British Esports Student Champs tournaments for school and college students aged 12+ across the UK. They each last for one term.

FC 26 is the latest football simulation game from EA Sports.

Tony said:

“I got involved in the British Esports Student Champs after seeing classmates competing in other game titles, which inspired me to take part too. Through my course, I’ve learned about strategy, nutrition, data analysis and performance – all of which have improved my game.”

Dundee and Angus College sent British Esports the following statement: “Tony is currently in the final year of his BA (Hons) Top-Up in Esports and Creative Industries at Dundee and Angus College. As the only academic institution in Scotland to offer this University of West London-accredited degree pathway, the college has provided Tony with a unique foundation for a professional career in gaming.

“Throughout his studies—from his Foundation Degree to his current Honors year—Tony has expanded his expertise far beyond gameplay. The curriculum has allowed him to explore many different areas of the industry, including a professional understanding of how major esports events are coordinated and promoted. He also found that the Health and Wellbeing modules taught him how to optimise his training routines and prepare for tournaments.

“Alongside his studies, Tony has had access to the college’s state-of-the-art esports facilities, giving him hands-on experience with the professional-level equipment and environments used across the industry. A new area of passion for Tony is data analysis. The module, which he was introduced to for the first time, became a standout interest. He has since leveraged data to sharpen his technical skills, finding a particular interest in how analytics drive competitive success, with hopes of becoming a coach and data analyst in the esports sector.”

The College also offers one-year and two-year Foundation Degree of the Arts – Esports and Creative Industries courses.

Dundee and Angus College celebrated Tony’s win with a post on its Linkedin page, saying: “We’re incredibly proud of Tony and can’t wait to see what’s next for him in the world of esports!”
