Ukie to host free ‘introduction to esports’ industry event

UK games industry trade body the Association for UK Interactive Entertainment (Ukie) is putting on a free esports event on Tuesday July 4th.

The ‘introduction to esports – experts view’ will be hosted by the Ukie esports sub group and aim to share the latest insight and market developments in the fast-moving esports scene.

The event will cover the latest goings on in esports, including info on team investments, broadcast distribution and tournaments, and will feature key names including Riot Games, Team Dignitas, Multiplay and ESL.

It runs from 4pm to 6pm and will take place at Ukie’s offices at 21-27 Lamb’s Conduit Street, London, WC1N 3NL.

There will also be networking time and drinks following the event.

Mark Cox from Riot Games will host a keynote, plus other sessions will cover the players, broadcasters, publishers, brands and event organisers.

Here’s the agenda:

  • 2pm – 3.30 pm esports sub group meeting (at Ukie offices)
  • 4pm – 6pm An introduction to esports event with guest speakers and beer
  • Introduction – David Yarnton, Gfinity, welcome and set the scene
  • Keynote – Mark Cox, Riot Games
  • View from mobile publisher – Deborah Mensah-Bonsu, Space Ape Games
  • View from broadcast – Claire Sharkey, Dingit
  • View from players and teams – PANEL, moderator Ravi Vijh, Bastion
