Home > The HUB > News Women in Esports Nominated for Women in Games Global Award Women in Esports Nominated for Women in Games Global Award Adam McGowan 2 min read | 5 Sep 2022 British Esports is pleased to announced its Women in Esports initiative has been nominated for “Most Inclusive Esports Initiative” by the Women in Games Global Awards, for its continuing work in creating a welcoming community in esports for women and marginalised genders. The Women in Esports initiative, first launched in 2019 is designed to focus on promoting more inclusivity and diversity within the esports industry. Since its inception, the Women in Esports initiative has delivered various projects and activations, including; A partnership with the Dota Valkyries, to increase female participation in Dota 2.Hosting a Valorant Showmatch at Insomnia 69.Running and maintaining a growing Women in Esports Discord community.Maintaining an advisory committee with members from various sectors of the industry. Most recently, the Women in Esports team were also on hand to support the women’s teams and players at the hugely successful Commonwealth Esports Championships at the ICC, Birmingham, with all women’s teams securing medals in their respective games. British Esports and Women in Esports would like to extend its congratulations and best wishes to all the other nominees in the ‘Most Inclusive Esports Initiative’ as well as the wider Women in Games Global Awards nominees.
