British Esports Association grows team with three new hires

May 15th, London: The British Esports Association, the not-for-profit organisation set up to promote and support grassroots esports, has made a trio of appointments.

Morgan Ashurst (pictured left) has taken the position of marketing manager, focusing on social media, partnerships and campaigns, while Elliot Bond (centre) and Alice Leaman (right) have joined as school and college liaison officers, helping educational institutions learn about esports and the British Esports Championships.

Morgan boasts a host of marketing and content experience, having worked as digital content manager at Riot Gaming and most recently as senior marketing executive at system builder Fierce PC, where she headed up the Fierce Esports brand and its teams.

She is also a former Call of Duty pro gamer, having competed at LAN events since the age of 16 and was featured in a Channel 4 documentary, Vice article and campaign for Belong and Activision.

Elliot has been building PCs and playing games from a young age, and is currently a high-ranked Champion 3 Rocket League player who has Grand Champion in his sights this season. He joins from Mallinson Sport Centre at Highgate School in London, where he worked as commercial and enterprise duty manager focusing on tournament, project and client management.

Alice, meanwhile, has service and hospitality experience as well as close ties with the British Esports Association. She has been volunteering for British Esports for more than a year, having helped with the pilot Championships and Season 1 and 2 as an admin.

Elliot takes on a full-time role looking after schools and colleges in the South of the UK, while Alice adopts a part-time role and will work focus on the North. Both Elliot and Alice will work alongside student esports coordinator Natacha Jones and report in to British Esports head of education Tom Dore; Morgan will report in to content director Dominic Sacco.

Elliot and Alice start on May 20th and Morgan will join on June 10th.

Morgan said: “I’m super excited to be starting my next journey as the new marketing manager for the British Esports Association. From growing up within the esports industry and playing at Call of Duty events to showing the rest of the UK the power of esports is a dream come true.”

Elliot added: “I am very passionate about the esports industry and have been for years. I am proud to join the team at this crucial time in its development here in the UK. I am excited to see the young talent that the UK can produce and how it develops in the future.”

Alice commented: “Having volunteered for a year working on the Championships, I’m thrilled that I get to be a part of making the Championships even bigger and better. I’m most looking forward to inspiring younger generations to get involved and to realise the key skills that can be gained from esports. I believe that UK esports will continue to grow further in the future and I want to be a part of making this happen.”

British Esports Association CEO Chester King said: “We are delighted to have found three talented people to join our team. I am really excited about what they will bring to British Esports and the impact they will have as we continue to grow and develop.”
