We look at some of the biggest events coming up in the UK esports calendar for 2023, and share how you can get involved. Please note: These are just some of the amazing events taking place throughout the year, and plenty others are also taking place. Keep your eyes out for other events not listed here! Pocket Gamer Connects 2023 London – 23rd-24th January 2023: Source: PG Connects With a focus on mobile gaming, the Pocket Gamer Connects conference returns this January to bring together over 2,000 industry professionals in London to network and learn. For this year’s event, PC, console and VR gaming and esports will also be featured alongside mobile gaming. Speakers and panellists will cover various topics across these platforms – including the esports scene and its ongoing developments. Apex Legends Global Series Split 1 Playoffs – 2nd-5th February 2023: Source: EA For the first time, the best of Apex Legends’ pro circuit are set to come together in London to battle it out for the Championship title. Held at the Copper Box Arena, the event will see 40 teams from five regions competing head to head in the playoffs, all live for spectators to see. ESIC Global Esports Summit 2023 – 9th-10th February 2023: Source: ESIC Organised by the Esports Integrity Commission, the ESIC Global Esports Summit sees experts from all areas of the industry coming together at the ExCeL Centre in London. Confirmed organisations, teams and publications attending the event include the likes of ESL, Esports News UK, FaceIt, Veloce Esports, Swipe Right PR and Dexerto. Esports in Education Summit 2023 – 10th February 2023: At the Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies, the fifth annual Esports in Education Summit is set to take place – with British Esports bringing together experts across the education sector and wider industry. This is a ticketed event, and is aimed at educators, and those wanting to expand their knowledge of esports and its integration into education. Epic.38 – 23rd-26th February 2023: Source: Epic.LAN One of the UK’s biggest LAN events is set to return to the Kettering Conference Centre to bring esports players and enthusiasts together under one roof. From casual gaming to amateur tournaments, the community atmosphere at an Epic.LAN event is something to attend for. To book tickets or find out more about the event, visit the Epic.LAN website. W.A.S.D London 2023 – 30th March-1st April 2023: Source: W.A.S.D A gaming and esports event made for people who play, study or create games in any capacity. Attendees are invited to The Truman Brewery in London to discover new games from indie to AAA developers, as well as networking with people in the industry around career development. Insomnia Gaming Festival (#i70) – 7th-10th April 2023: Source: Insomnia Gaming Festival The UK’s biggest gaming festival is returning better than ever for its 70th event at the NEC in Birmingham. The festival will bring together casual and competitive gamers alike, and features its well-known BYOC (Bring your own computer) space for players to bring their own setups for the weekend. British Esports Student Champs Grand Finals 2023 – June/July (Dates TBC): Source: Tom Morely As the Spring split of the 2022/23 season of the Student Champs is approaching, we are edging closer to the all-important Grand Finals. Whilst full details have not yet been shared, we can assure you that it is an event you do not want to miss. ESI London 2023 – Autumn (Dates TBC): Source: ESI The biggest esports industry festival is set to return later this year, following the success at BOXPARK Wembley in 2022. Experts and enthusiasts from all areas of the esports industry are set to come together for panels, networking, and gaming – with more surprises expected when details are announced. EGX London 2023 – 12th-15th October 2023: Source: EGX Returning to the ExCeL Centre in London, EGX brings together gamers and exhibitors all under one roof to celebrate the world of gaming. Attendees will be able to play a wide variety of video and table top games, as well as network with others in a professional capacity. Tickets are going on sale for the event soon, and updates can be found on the EGX website.
