The British Esports Association, the not-for-profit organisation set up to promote and support grassroots esports in the UK, is on the hunt for more game advisers.

Game advisers help us to get closer to the communities within each esports game and ensure we can support and understand each community effectively, as well as keep abreast of any changes.

It’s a voluntary role with benefits including access to speaking and networking opportunities, working with and inspiring students taking part in our British Esports Championships and more, as well as promotional opportunities via interviews with us and more.

For example, our Rocket League adviser Mike ‘Gregan’ Ellis attended our finals at Insomnia and provided coaching to the winning teams, while our Forza adviser Tobin Leigh attended the esports industry event at Parliament last year with British Esports.

Gregan said: “It’s always fun getting involved in the projects the British Esports Association does – and in particular in my favourite game.

“I’ve had some wonderful experiences meeting young gamers and teaching them about esports and Rocket League. It’s great to be able to inspire and educate the next generation of esports competitors and staff.”

Forza game adviser Tobin Leigh added: “Having joined the BEA as a game adviser, I’ve not only been able to help others get to grips with Forza esports but also have had unbelievable opportunities come my way as a result – this position has helped to progress my own career more than you would believe!”

We have built up one or two experts in several esports over the past few years, mainly (but not exclusively) focused on the grassroots/British scene within each title. We want to be aware of and support many titles that can be played competitively, not just the most popular ones.

We’re currently looking for advisers in the following games:

  • Apex Legends
  • Brawlhalla
  • Fortnite
  • Gears of War
  • Madden NFL
  • Minecraft
  • Mortal Kombat
  • Paladins
  • Overwatch
  • Quake
  • Runescape
  • SMITE
  • Splatoon
  • Starcraft II
  • Team Fortress 2
  • Trackmania
  • World of Tanks
