The Esports in Education Summit sponsored by Pearson gets underway on November 10th from 1pm to 3.30pm, giving UK-based school and college teachers valuable insight into the benefits of esports and showing them how to get involved. Here are 10 reasons to attend.

1. Learn how to build your own esports programme in education

Esports is an exciting, growing sector that has lots of opportunities and benefits, but it can be hard knowing where to start.

Our panels will give you tangible examples of other schools and colleges that are succeeding in this area, as well as useful advice for you to take away for yourself.

For example, teachers can take part in tournaments, run the Esports BTEC qualification, learn about esports careers and more.

One panel, ‘Building a Successful Esports Programme within education’, will include a mix of teachers and students to help you think about launching your own programme in esports and taking your first steps – or furthering your existing programme.

2. It’s free for teachers

This event is entirely free to attend for staff from AoC and AoC Sport Member Colleges, schools/colleges with teams in the 2020/21 British Esports Championships as well as Higher Education organisations.

For all others, the summit costs just £35 +VAT.

3. Hear from a mix of speakers

There’s a real variety of experienced speakers lined up, from teachers to students, esports executives, members of the British Esports Association and more.

Hear from Cindy Rampersaud, Senior Vice President, Pearson BTEC and Apprenticeship, Tom Dore, Head of Education, British Esports Association, Prof. Andy Miah, Chair of Science Communication & Future Media, University of Salford, Dr. Maria Stukoff, Director of the Maker Space, University of Salford and lots more.

See the full speaker line-up here.

4. It’s digestible and won’t eat into your time

Clocking in at just over two hours, the conference is not an all-day event and won’t drag on, leaving you to work or catch up on other things either side of the conference.

The event runs from 1pm to 3.30pm.

5. It’s backed by experts

The Esports in Education Summit is organised by the British Esports Association, the not-for-profit association set up to promote and support grassroots esports, which runs the British Esports Championships for schools and colleges, as well as AoC Sport, the Association of Colleges Sport, the lead organisation for college sport and activities here in the UK.

The event is also sponsored by global learning company Pearson.

British Esports has arranged several esports tournaments with AoC Sport, and offers the Esports BTEC qualifications in association with Pearson.

6. Find out what digital skills and careers esports offers

The esports and video games industries offer students a vast career pathway, promising valuable transferable skills they can take into this industry – or others.

Learn about these career opportunities, digital skills and FE pathways during the Esports and Education Summit.

7. Learn about the benefits of esports

Esports offers many benefits to students and others, including fostering communication, leadership and teamwork skills, improved reaction times and more.

Some teachers have even seen improved behaviour, attendance and concentration levels from their students. Find out more benefits that teachers have seen during the summit.

8. It’s convenient

The event is purely online, making it easy for you to log on, watch and listen in, safely and conveniently from your home or school/college.

9. Take valuable advice you can put into practice

The Esports in Education Summit is set up to give you advice you can take away and really put into practice. This event is not designed to be difficult to understand, or full of jargon.

It promises plenty of real-world examples and information to help you learn all about the esports education space.

10. There’s nothing else like it
