British Esports signs ‘GLHF’ pledge for inclusion in gaming

The British Esports Association has taken AnyKey’s ‘GLHF’ (Good Luck Have Fun) pledge for inclusion and integrity in video games and esports.

British Esports founder Chester King, chair Andy Payne and content director Dominic Sacco have all taken the pledge, as has esports host and British Esports advisory board member Paul “ReDeYe” Chaloner.

We’ll be including this pledge in our newsletter this week and encouraging our members, advisory board members and game advisers to follow suit.

By taking the pledge, gamers promise to be an active supporter of inclusive communities in gaming, competition, and VR, and also unlock a special Twitch badge.

It has already received more than 200,000 signatures as of December 1st 2017.

The pledge is as follows:

1. To be a good sport whether I win or lose.
2. To remember that people online and in virtual spaces are still real people.
3. To know that my actions and words can have real impact.
4. To speak up against hate speech, harassment, abuse, and assault of any kind.
5. To have integrity as a player by respecting the rules, appreciating good opponents, and being a good teammate.
6. To ask and wait for clear consent when playing in VR with others.
7. To stop, listen, and reassess if I’m told that my words or actions have been harmful.

AnyKey is a diversity initiative from Intel and ESL, with Oculus also on board as part of the GLHF pledge.
