With the fifth-annual Esports in Education Summit fast approaching, we wanted to share everything you need to know about the event, and answer any potential questions you may have.
Running of the day:
On the day, there are some things to know that will help the Summit go smoother, and also help you understand what to expect when turning up at the venue.
Firstly, doors and registration for the Summit will be open from 9:45am on the day, before the event starting at 10:15am. We do ask that you arrive on time to register so that you can make the most of the day.
When you arrive, please head to the reception area located in the Atrium of the Metronome. Here you must show your ticket, sign in to the event and we will give you your wristband to access the venue.
Once you have your wristband, please follow the signs to the auditorium and take a seat ready for the panels to begin.
There will be small breaks between panels where refreshments will be available and networking can take place. Lunch will also be provided, so please email [email protected] if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions if you have not informed us yet.
The Summit is set to close at 4pm, but tours of the newly developed Confetti X facilities will be taking place for those who wish to join after the main event.
Now that you know what to do when you arrive at the Summit, it is important to share some general information about the event to ensure everyone is aware beforehand.
Due to staff and attendees having very severe allergies, there will be no outside food or drink permitted in the venue. Please make sure that you do not attend the event with any items as they will not be allowed into the venue.
The Summit is being broadcast live to a virtual audience, so we ask that you please keep flash photography to a minimum. You are welcome to take photographs throughout the event.
The venue is fully accessible, and any accessibility requirements will be met during the course of the event. If you have any accessibility requirements or medical conditions you would like us to be aware of, please let us know in advance so we can organise the appropriate aid.
What to bring to the event:
As this event is quite unique, it may be difficult to know exactly what you need to bring when attending. Here are a few things to consider bringing with you, but all of which are optional.
- Notebook and Pens – These are good for you to note down any quotes or information from panels, as well as any name and contact information from other attendees, staff, or panellists to help you connect with them after the event.
- Business cards (if you have them) – A great way to connect with someone at the event without having to read out or write down lots of contact information. These are not essential to have, but would come in handy when networking if you do have them.
- Questions – Come prepared with a few questions that you would like to ask. These might be covered in the panels, and if so, great – but there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions to attendees and staff if you would still like an answer.
- Water bottle – Whilst water and refreshments will be provided at the event, there are also spots where you can fill up your own water bottle around the venue.
Getting to the venue:
The Summit will once again be held at the Metronome in Nottingham, in the heart of the city’s Creative Quarter. Getting to the venue is simple, and can be accessed through different forms of transportation and on foot.
- By car:
Whilst the venue is located off of a main road, there are a few different car parks within walking distance. Victoria Centre Car Park – 0.2 miles away from the venue. Stoney Street Car Park – 0.3 miles from the venue. All car parks in the area are paid parking, and prices vary depending on location.
- By tram:
There are several trams that run throughout the city, and can bring you to the venue from many different locations. The nearest tram stop to the venue is Lace Market, and then it is a short 5 minute walk to the Metronome.
- By train:
The nearest train station to the venue is Nottingham Station, and this is located 0.8 miles away from the venue. To walk from the station, it is approximately 16 minutes going through the town centre. A taxi to the venue would take around 5 minutes. Regular buses from the station come every 15 minutes, and to get as close to the Metronome as possible it would take around 8 minutes. You can catch the number 49 bus to George Street, and walk 0.2 miles directly to the venue. You can also catch the tram from Shipstone Street (0.1 miles from the station) to Lace Market and walk 0.3 miles to the venue.
- By taxi:
The nearest and safest location to pick up and drop off from is the Shell Garage directly opposite the Metronome. Taxis will be able to bring you to this point from any area of the city.
If you are attending the event but are in need of overnight accommodation the night before or night of the event, there are plenty of hotels in the area.
The closest hotel to the venue is Mercure Nottingham City Centre George Hotel, which is a 5 minute walk away (0.2 miles).
